    Q:
How do you remove and install the Steering Wheel in a Kia Sedona? Posted by Customer
    A:
To begin the process of removing the airbag module, it is necessary to park the vehicle with the wheels straight and position the steering wheel to the center and lastly, take out the Negative battery cable. For the models produced before 2005, first, have the steering column lower cover and lower the steering wheel in such a way that the steering wheel will be aligned to the 12 o'clock position to reveal the airbag retainer wires. For each of the retaining wires that connected to the airbag, one is supposed to use a special tool or screwdriver to lift the loop of the wire up and free it while pulling the airbag away at the same time, and once all retaining wires are cleared in this manner, the steering wheel should be turned to the center position. For the 2006 and later models, first, you have to take off two covers at the column and the fasteners that are keeping the airbag module at the wheel. Following the removal of the airbag module and the disconnecting of the electrical connectors, place it aside with the airbag facing up. Debate on the utility of, the procedure to, the process of removing the steering wheel retaining nut, position the steering wheel relative to the shaft, usage of puller as an effective technique to avoid hammering or the use of slide hammer. During the time you take off the steering wheel, do not rotate the steering shaft since you will damage the airbag clockspring; use tape to secure it if needed. Clockspring or directive must be installed in the middle position, align the steering wheel with the position indicated by the label, and then tighten the holding nut. Connect the electrical connectors, then properly position the airbag assembly to join its seat with the steering wheel of the vehicle for the specific years of model and fasten the retainer wires of the assembly. Last of all, join the black terminal of the battery back and ensure the proper working of the airbag system through the warning light on the instrument cluster.
