If applicable, verify if the throttle cable moves smoothly. Unscrew the air intake duct from the throttle body and inspect for any carbon layering and build-up of residue. Clean it with an aerosol carburetor/throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush after ensuring that oxygen sensor systems and catalytic converters are safe. Never clean the Throttle Position (TP) sensor or the Idle Speed Actuator (ISA) valve with solvent. Ensure to allow enough time for the engine to cool down before starting removal and installation process. Take off the cable from its negative battery terminal.Detach the air intake tube.Disengage the electrical connector from TP sensor on 2001 through 2006 models.For later models, unplug ETB's electrical connector.Unhook accelerator as well as cruise control cables where they are attached on some models.Label all vacuum lines connected to throttle body.Remove any extra hoses running through top of throttle body then detach them.Clamp off coolant hoses leading to TB so as to save coolant.Wrench out throttle assembly bolts and remove same.Abandon old gasket when pulling apart.Torque up TB mounting fasteners carefully.Ensure that there is adequate amount of coolant in system.
