    Q:
How do you properly replace the front stabilizer bar bushings and links on Kia Sorento? Posted by Customer
    A:
The wheels of the vehicle should be aligned to the front; then loosened the lug nuts on the front wheels, lift the and support the front of the vehicle using jackstands, then finally remove the wheels and the undervehicle splash shield. On models prior to 2009, unbolt the nuts, washers, and the outside bushings that are situated on top of the sway bar links. Take off the sway bar bushing bracket and the bolts noting the orientation of the bushings. Take out the rubber bushings of the sway bar kit, check for signs of crack or deterioration of the bushings and if evident the bushings must be replaced. Illustration 2 Check if the balljoints are loose and drop them from the lower control arms if mandatory and clean the bushing area of the sway bar kit. Thread the rubber bushings onto the stud ends and position the sway bar kit across the frame; bolt on the bushing blocks, torquing the bolts to the proper figure. Screw the washers and bushings onto the links, swing the bar down over the links and tight the nuts until 1/4-inch of threads remain and that the upper nuts are tightened to the lower nuts. The rest of the installation procedure is proceeded in the reverse sequence of the removal and the lug nuts are tightened to the recommended torque values. On models made from 2011 and onwards remove the sway bar links from the bar, lock the steering wheel to its straight ahead position then place a marks on the relation between the steering shaft and the steering gear before disconnecting the U-joint on the shaft. Place two floor jacks on the subframe and unbolt the subframe mounting bolts and use the jacks to get to the bolts of the sway bar bracket. Wedge the sway bar kit out, check for and repair any cracked or worn out bushing and wipe the bushing area clean. After that, new bushings should be put onto the sway bar kit, and then the bar should be put into the place and the bushing brackets should be installed and tightened to the demanded level of torque. Lift the subframe in relation to the body and fasten the bolts, reconnect the coupling shaft, and then install the links, while tightening the link nuts should not exceed the fixed moment. In this case, follow the reversal process of all the steps that has been made and add the tightening of the lug nuts to the recommended torque.
