    Q:
How to check and replace the Ignition Coil on Kia Optima? Posted by Customer
    A:
To check four-cylinder engines (2001-2006), remove coils and connect an ohmmeter to each coil's secondary terminals. Replace any coil with significantly different readings. For a 3-volt power supply, connect two 1.5-volt batteries in series. Connect the power supply to the coil wiring connector and take resistance readings. Replace the coil if readings vary. For V6 engines, disconnect spark plug wires and the primary wiring connector. Check the secondary and primary resistance on the coil's terminals. For 2006.5 and later models, remove coils and check resistance between primary terminals. Replace any coil with significant variations. To replace coils, disconnect the battery cable, remove the engine cover, disconnect the electrical connector, remove mounting bolts, and lift the coil pack.
