    Q:
How are the electrical circuits of a Kia Spectra safeguarded and what should be done if a fuse blows? Posted by Customer
    A:
The electrical circuits of the vehicle are protected by fuses, circuit breakers as well as relays these are so situated that fuse and relay boxes are situated in the engine compartment and beneath the left end of the dashboard. Models with a 2.0L DOHC engine which manufactured in 2004 and all the 2005 and the later models (exclude sport age) the interior fuse and relay box can be removed through the knee bolster but for the sport age there is the fuse and relay box is placed at the left side of the instrument panel. There are a number of miniature and massive mini and maxi style fuses built-in containing blade terminal fashion for easy extraction and installation to guard particular circuits and fuses' identification is given on the cover of fuse panel. If the particular electrical component fails, there should be a check on the fuse; the use of the test light is good, as it informs of the presence of power on each side of the fuse, while the fuse can be considered blown if physically inspected. It is necessary to replace the blown fuses with the ones of the same type because the fuses of the different density may be swapped physically, but this is no good because depending of the circuit, the protection is needed at different level. If a fuse has blown and is replaced and it blows again instantly, then it was a conductor problem; there should be a short circuit such as damaged wiring which needs to rectified before replacing the fuse again.
