Wear gloves when working inside the door openings to protect against cuts from sharp metal edges. To address the door latch, first raise the window, then remove the door trim panel and water shield. Working through the large access hole, disengage the rods from the handle and lock cylinder, noting that all door lock rods are attached by plastic clips that can be unsnapped and pulled out. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the latch and disengage the handle-to-latch cable. Remove the screws securing the latch to the door and take out the latch assembly through the door opening, with installation being the reverse of removal. For the outside handle and door lock cylinder, raise the window and remove the door trim panel and water shield, taking care not to scratch the paint on the outside of the door by using wide masking tape around the handle opening. Remove the trim cap for the outside handle retaining screw and take out the screw. Through the access hole, disengage the plastic clips securing the outside door lock-to-latch rod and the outside door handle-to-latch rod. For 2009 and earlier models, remove the handle and lock cylinder retaining screws from inside the door, while for 2011 and later models, remove the retaining screws from inside the door and then, from the outside, remove the cover from the front of the handle, pulling the handle outwards and towards the rear to disengage it from the handle reinforcement inside the door. Remove the exterior handle mounting screw and take out the handle and lock assembly from inside the door, with installation being the reverse of removal. For the inside door handle, remove the door trim panel. On 2009 and earlier models, take out the handle retaining screws and nut, then disengage the handle from the door, followed by disengaging the handle-to-latch cable. For 2011 and later models, the inside door handle is attached to the door panel; depress the locking hook from the rear of the handle, unclip the cable handle cage, disconnect the cables, and remove the inside door handle fasteners and handle from the door panel, with installation being the reverse of removal.
