    Q:
How do you remove and install front Steering Knuckle on Kia Spectra? Posted by Customer
    A:
To de-assemble the components disengage some of the wheel lug nuts and the driveaxle/hub nut, after that lift up the front part of the automobile with the jack and support it using the jackstands. Engage the parking break, then use chocks to stop the rear wheels from moving. First, it is necessary to dismantle the wheels, and subsequently the brake caliper which should be suspended using wire; furthermore, disconnect the caliper mounting bracket and the brake disc from the hub. If fitted with ABS, then disconnect the wheel speed sensor. Turn the strut-to-steering knuckle bolts but do not pry them out, then disconnect the two ends of the tie rod from its housing on the steering knuckle and the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Wrench off the hub-nut and pull out the driveaxle and support its end with wire by pulling its end. Finally, before turning to the removal of the strut, unbolt the knuckle-strut bolts and gradually pull the steering knuckle loose from the strut. For installation, slide it in with the knuckle and the hub assembly while threading the driveaxle through the hub. Insert the knuckle into the lower portion of the strut flange and then screw in the bolts and nuts and then fasten them. Fasten the balljoint to the knuckle and tighten the pinch bolt nut to the overall specified torque. Screw the tie-rod into the steering knuckle arm and tighten the strut bolt nuts and the tie-rod nut to metric lbs. Put on the brake disc and then tighten it to the hub of the wheel , put on the caliper mounting bracket then fit the caliper. Embed a new driveaxle/hub nut on the stud and torque to specification, final torque to ne performed when the vehicle is again lowered. Place on the wheel and the lugs nuts, drop the vehicle, and further snug the lug nuts and the driveaxle/hub nut to the prescribed torque. Last but not the least, get the front-end alignment checked done and carry out the necessary adjustments.
