    Q:
How do I replace the brake pads on both front and rear disc brakes on Kia Sportage? Posted by Customer
    A:
Change the brake pads of both front and rear disc brakes by starting to remove the brake fluid reservoir's cap, loosening wheel lug nuts. Lift either the rear or front of the car and jackstands should be used for support. Inspection of the brake disc can only be done after a single wheel goes off with regard to machining. If its necessary follow the appropriate steps in removing along with calipers and pads any discs needing machining. Ensure that as you push back into caliper bore using a C-clamp piston, overflow master cylinder fluid is avoided in models fro 2004 and below . Remove Anti rattle spring clip, caliper guide pin covers, caliper guide pins and then finally take out cailper itself. Reassemble including tightening up the guide pins or installing an anti-rattle spring clip if applicable to replace inner and outer brake pads. Use once again a C-clamp to drive back piston into caliper bore while avoiding overflow from master cylinder fluid on 2005 and above models. Clean your break assembly using breaks system cleaner then lower pin bolt cut off hold onto it tightly thus disconnecting your calliper that has otherwise been removed. Replace inner ad outer break pads inspect lubricate guide pins, install caliper back if applicable with proper tightness on guide pin bolt. To remove rear pad on earlier model 1997 drive upper pad retaining pin out partially bring down lower one as well move antirattle spring retaining pin out along with lower brak epad before pushing screw driver or pry bar unto piston bore ensuring flow back of mast cylider fluid does not occur put new inner outer pads followed by pad retaining pins on it for 1998 however sephia spectra apply grease top low retainers clips reinstall shims inner pad instructionshave grease applied while installin ginnerouter pads releasing their pistons mounting bolts check two things: whether there is no overfill at all avoid running into problems fitting everything properly. To keep the master cylinder from overfilling, use a C-clamp to press the piston back into the caliper bore on Sportage models. Disengage lower guide pin bolt secure caliper to strut coil spring using wire cut remove inner and outer brake pads after that. Whenever necessary replace rubber boots, inspect and lubricate guide pins before installing new inner and outer pads with shims put back caliper using guide pin bolt tighten accordingly when specified. After doing this, reinstall the wheels, lower the vehicle and then tighten lug nuts to precise torque settings. Pump brakes several times to contact pad with discs of brake by pressing releasing pedal repeatedly. Check the fluid level in the brake system and add if necessary, prior to testing that they are working well enough for driving on public roads from an area of safety only.
