The hood is very difficult to dismantle and mount, so it is recommended to do this work with at least two people. Start by unraveling the hoods and cover the fenders and cowl region using the blankets of pads when lifting the car. This is if you find any cables or wires that maybe an obstacle to removal, remove them including the windshield washer tubing. The marks should be made around the area of the hood hinges as this will ease alignment when reassembling the items. On the side of the hood which is still attached to the car, an assistant should pull the support struts off the ball studs and then lower the car. Removing alternate bolts between the hinge and the hood should be done by two people while one of them lifts the hood off the car by resting it on the shoulder. When it will be time to install the hinge bolts, place the bolts in accordance with the marks made earlier. Slide the hood backwards and forwards in the hinge plate slots and also sideways, if you feel the need to, after undoing the bolts. To this end, if not already done, draw around the entire of the hinge plate to see the extent of the movement that is required. Relieve some of the tension on the bolts, shift the hood until it is in the right position, and then torque the hinge bolts before slowly bringing down the hood to verify its position. If required, align the whole of the hood latch assembly along up-and-down on the radiator support and right-left on the car fenders to make the hood close properly and align to the fenders. Paint around the mounting bolts of the hood latch for identification purpose, loosen it, and re-adjust the position wherever necessary and finally again tighten the bolts. Finally, set the hood bumpers on the radiator support to the correct positions because you need to have the hood level with the fenders when closed and the hood latch assembly and hinges lubricated with white lithium-base grease occasionally to reduce binding and wear.
