    Q:
How to remove and install a water pump in Kia Sedona? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the drivebelt and the alternator. Drain the engine coolant. For 2005 and earlier models, remove the liming belt cover. Remove the fittings to the water pump and water outlet, remove the thermostat housing-to-engine bolts, and remove the complete housing as a unit. Every sprocket must maintain its position on the timing belt or severe engine damage can occur! If the marks are not legible later, it will be necessary to follow the timing belt installation procedure to ensure correct alignment. The belt can be secured to the pulleys with plastic zip-ties or a similar device to prevent them from coming off. Paint each sprocket with alignment marks onto the liming belt so that the belt can be installed in exactly the same position. Remove the timing belt tensioner. DO NOT rotate the crankshaft with the timing belt removed! Unscrew the water pump fasteners and remove the water pump. If necessary, tap the pump loose with a soft-face hammer. Clean the water pump and block of any old gasket material or sealant, then clean with lacquer thinner. Install a new gasket and install the water pump. Install the water. For 2006 and later models, remove the water pump pulley mounting bolts and remove the pulley. Remove the water pump mounting bolts, then remove the pump and gaskets; it may be necessary to use a soft-face hammer to loosen the pump. Install a new gasket and install the water pump. Install the water pump bolls and nuts and tighten them to the torque. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system, then run the engine and check for leaks and proper operation.

    Q:
Are there any other components to remove related to the water pump for the 2012 Kia Sorento? Posted by Customer
    A:
Yes, remove the water pump pulley mounting bolts and then remove the pulley. Subsequently, remove the water pump mounting bolts, and then take out the pump and gaskets. If working from underneath, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then proceed with the removal of the pulley and inlet tube.
