Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and place a drain pan under the vehicle to catch any fluid spills when the hoses are disconnected. For four-cylinder models, clamp the feed hose shut, then disconnect it, unscrew the banjo fitting, and disconnect the pressure line from the pump. Cap or plug the hoses and lines to prevent contamination or leakage while they are disconnected. Loosen the mounting and adjusting fasteners to remove the drivebelt, then remove the fasteners to detach the pump. For V6 models, disconnect the Power Steering Pressure switch from the power steering pump, remove the banjo bolt, and disconnect the power steering high-pressure line from the pump. Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the suction hose from the pump, then remove the power steering pump support bracket bolts and the support bracket. Remove the serpentine drivebelt, and working through the holes in the pump pulley, remove the two power steering pump mounting bolts and the pump. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to tighten the pump mounting fasteners to the specified torque, use new sealing washers on the high-pressure line fitting, install and adjust the drivebelt as outlined, fill the power steering fluid reservoir with the recommended fluid, and bleed the power steering hydraulic system.
