    Q:
What is the location and procedure for replacing the ECT sensor on Kia Spectra? Posted by Customer
    A:
The engine coolant must be drained partially so that it is below the height of the cylinder head. Don't drain your radiator; if you do, expect some coolant to run out when you pull the ECT sensor off. On 1994 through 1997 models, the ECT sensor is located right behind the distributor. If you want to disconnect the electrical connector, remove this retainer wire by prying it carefully and then slide out the connector. For 1998 and other later four-cylinder models, it is situated on the left side at the end of a cylinder head facing fire wall. If you wish to separate electrical connections carefully pry loose this retainer wire from its position after which you can easily remove it from there. The ECT sensor on 2.7LV6 engines is just below or directly under ignition coil pack. After un-screwing it, dispose of both old washer gasket and sealing pin for ECT sensors. Please always remember that if such a cool thing as an engine control system would be damaged in any way that would affect driving process badly as well. It should be installed as in reverse procedure beginning with replacement of new sealing washer and tightening up of ECT sensor till torque required for it while refilling with cooling medium has been done adequately enough!

    Q:
How to check and repalce Coolant Temperature Sensor on Kia Sportage? Posted by Customer
    A:
If the coolant temperature gauge is inoperative, check the fuses first. If the temperature gauge indicates excessive temperature after running awhile, troubleshoot the issue. If the temperature gauge indicates HOT as soon as the engine is started cold, disconnect the electrical connector at the coolant gauge sending unit and if the gauge reading drops, replace the sending unit. If the gauge fails to respond, the circuit may be open or the temperature gauge may be faulty. To replace the sending unit, drain the coolant, disconnect the electrical connector for the sending unit, using a deep socket or a wrench, remove the sending unit, install the new sending unit, and tighten it securely, connect the electrical connector, refill the cooling system and check for coolant leakage and proper gauge operation.
