    Q:
How do you disconnect and replace the CMP sensor in Kia Sedona? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. For models from 2005 and earlier, the sensor is located under the timing belt cover, next to the exhaust camshaft sprocket on the front cylinder bank. Remove the timing belt cover, disconnect the sensor electrical connector, and then remove the two mounting bolts to take out the sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the bolts are tightened securely. For models from 2006 and later, 3.8L engines have two CMP sensors located on the top left ends of the valve covers, while 2011 and later 3.5L engines have four CMP sensors located on the left ends of the valve covers, with one for each intake and exhaust camshaft. If removing a sensor from the rear cylinder bank, the upper intake manifold may need to be removed. Disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor, remove the mounting bolt, and take out the sensor. If reinstalling the same sensor, check the condition of the O-ring and replace it if damaged. Installation follows the reverse order, tightening the CMP sensor bolt to the specified torque.

    Q:
How do you disconnect and replace the CMP sensor in Kia Sorento? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. For 2.4L four-cylinder models, note that these are equipped with two CMP sensors, one for the intake and one for the exhaust camshaft, located on each end of the cylinder head. Remove the air intake duct if necessary to provide more room to work, then disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor. Remove the CMP sensor mounting bolt and take out the sensor, keeping in mind that it may be necessary to remove the engine lift bracket to access the exhaust CMP sensor. If reinstalling the same sensor, check the condition of the O-ring and replace it if damaged. Installation is the reverse of removal. For 2006 and earlier 3.5L V6 models, the CMP sensor is mounted under the timing belt cover near the exhaust camshaft sprocket on the driver's side cylinder head. Remove the timing belt cover, disconnect the sensor electrical connector, and remove the two sensor mounting bolts to take out the sensor, with installation being the reverse of removal. For all other V6 models, note that 2007 through 2009 models use two CMP sensors, while 2011 and later models use four sensors mounted on the drive belt end of the cylinder heads. Remove the engine cover if necessary for access, disconnect the sensor electrical connector, and remove the bolt securing the sensor to the side of the cylinder head before pulling the sensor out of its socket, with installation being the reverse of removal.
