    Where is the CMP sensor located and how do you remove and install it on Kia Optima? Posted by Customer

    The CMP sensor is located on the driver's end of the cylinder head. First, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, remove the air intake duct, if necessary, to provide more room to work. Next, disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor. After that, remove the CMP sensor mounting bolt(s) and remove the sensor. If you're going to install the same sensor, check the condition of the 0-ring. Replace the 0-ring if it's damaged. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal.

    Disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor, remove the CMP sensor mounting bolt, and take out the sensor. It may be necessary to remove the engine lift bracket to access the exhaust CMP sensor.
