    Q:
How to perform an oil and Oil Filter change on Kia Sorento? Posted by Customer
    A:
Changing the oil frequently is an essential preventative maintenance for the engine since as oil ages it gets diluted and contaminated, causing premature engine wear. Before beginning to change oil, make sure that you have all necessary tools such as drain pan, rubber gloves, breaker bar, socket and filter wrench. Also adequate rags or newspapers should be available for cleaning up spills. A hoist may help access under the vehicle better if it can be lifted or driven up ramps or supported by jack stands. If this is your initial oil change, locate the location of oil drain plug before components of the engine and exhaust heat up. Park the car on a level surface, start the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature, turn off and remove the filler cap. Place a drain pan beneath the drain plug; use a proper wrench to remove the plug then allow old oil to drain into pan. Check for metal shavings and chips in old oil. After draining has been accomplished wipe around the drain plug opening and replace securely without stripping threads with new gasket. For all four-cylinder engines and 2006-and-earlier 3.5L V6 Engines: move the drain pan under the oil filter; loosen and take out already used filter; clean mounting surface on block; ensure no old gasket residue remains; lubricate new filter's rubber gasket with some motor oil before installing it by hand; tighten according to instruction given by manufacturer of filter. Get rid of all tools then lower vehicle down again.Inside engine compartment remove engine cover first followed by locating at which point on this particular one unscrew its cover then replace element of filtration.During installation include another O-Ring onto top part together with rest portion.Apply fresh oils via its hole through their respective caps after checking this liquid's volume starting your car then wait out any leakage.Allow time for oils to settle down after changing them recheck and put more if needed. After every instance where new oils have been added observe leakage as well as search for normal oil fill disposal site to protect our environment against any harm.
