    Q:
How do you remove and install strut assemblies in a Kia Sedona? Posted by Customer
    A:
To demount the strut assemblies, the wheel lug nuts ought to initially to be loosened then lift the vehicle to place it properly on jackstands and then finally take off the wheels and finally disconnect the ABS speed sensor harness if available. For the model of 2006 and onwards, it is required to pull off the connection of stabilizer bar link on the strut. Then, the brake hose bracket mounting bolt should be undone and the hose needs to be set aside from the strut. If it has cotter pins, take those out, then the nuts and bolts holding the strut to the steering knuckle; do not pull the inner CV joint too far out or allow the steering knuckle to drop outwards as this will stress the brake hose. It is marked 'S' and must not be rotated as the grooved section engages with a toothed key; use a wrench to loosen the nuts and use a hammer and punch on the bolts, making sure that the head of the bolts are as stated above. Place one of upper mounting stud and apply your ruler to ensure the trace of the outer wheel to line up with your tracing on the spring pad at the top of the strut , so the springs and struts will be placed symmetrically Repeat the process on the other end of the car , Using an assistant to support the assembly of the struts and springs , unscrew the three upper mounting nuts and take the assembly out of the fenderwell. Check strut body for rusting or any sign of leakage, scratches, or dents, cracks on the coil spring, or chipping of the outer coating, and on the spring seat, if signs of rusting or deterioration are noticed. If there is any problem identified then the strut needs to be disassembled. To install, guide the strut assembly into the fenderwell, up through the body holes and use the upper mounting studs to align 2005 and earlier. Afterward, the studs should be protruding and use the nuts to avoid the struts from falling. Finally, turn the upper mounting nuts to the torque recommended, reinstall the steering knuckle over the strut flange, fit the bolts and tighten the nuts also to the recommended torque apply the recommended new cotter pins where necessary. If the vehicle was fitted with ABS, fit the speed sensor wiring harness bracket, fit the stabilizer bar link to the strut and tighten the nut to the specified torque. Last but not the least, fix the wheel and lug nuts, lower the car, snug the lug nuts to the nuts recommended torque, and adjust the front end alignment if needed.
