To disassemble, remove the strut and spring assembly, mount it in a vise lined with wood or rags to prevent damage, and avoid excessive tightening.

1. Position the lower end of the shock absorber in the axle bracket, allowing the top to extend into the top bracket. 2. Install the mounting bolts and nuts finger tight. 3. Raise the axle beam to simulate normal ride height. 4. Tighten the lower bolt and nut to the specified torque. 5. Tighten the upper nuts until approximately 13/32 to 29/64-inch of threads are exposed above the top nut. 6. Secure the top nut against the lower nut to the specified torque. 7. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.

Inspect the strut body for leaks, dents, cracks, and other damage, and check the coil spring for chips or cracks in the coating, as well as the spring seat for deterioration.
