Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, disconnect the hoses and electrical connectors from the
Fuel Pump/fuel level sending unit and on 2011 and later models, also disconnect the wiring from the sub-fuel sending unit. Remove the fuel filler hose and vent hose, and any EVAP hoses that would interfere with tank removal. On 2009 and earlier models, remove the nuts from the front of the tank and the bolts from the rear of the tank then lower the rear of the tank a few inches until the front of the tank can be lifted over the studs at the front. On 2011 and later models, remove the exhaust system, on 4WD models, remove the rear driveshaft, remove the nuts from the tank retaining straps, lower the tank to gain access to the top of it, disconnect any remaining hoses from the tank and EVAP canister, and it may be necessary to unbolt the parking brake cable brackets and move the cable out of the way. Installation is the reverse of removal, tightening the fuel tank strap bolts securely.
