Kia Optima Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the radiator and Coolant Reservoir on Kia Optima?
A: First, disconnect the minus battery cable before taking off the radiator, remove any engine splash shields or covers and break off connection of any wiring to the fan motor(s). Get rid of the coolant and remove air inlet duct for 2006.5 and later models. Mark their positions and detach upper and lower radiator hoses together with reservoir hose. Disconnect transaxle oil cooler hoses on automating vehicles, cap fittings to prevent leakage. Then follow up by unbolting radiator top mounting brackets and carefully removing the radiator and fan (s) as an assembly. Thereafter, one should remove cooling fans from radiators. Find out if there are leaks in radiators or if they have been damaged at all or if their channels are blocked. Use compressed air with a brush that is not harshly bristled, to clean bugs and dirt from it but take care not to curve its cooling fins when cleaning them out .Do not forget that while fitting ensure rubber mounts are correctly placed before filling the cooling system with right mixture of antifreeze and water; then start it allow it run so that you can see whether there are leakages in order to monitor how much of coolant gets lost at a time too.To be more sure make sure you check auto trans fluid too.Put your hand around this reservoir hose connecting it towards the radiator; soon after pinch it firmly just before disconnecting that same hose. However in case of 2001 thru 2006 models after pinching off this hose connecting it between this container as well as radiator you will require removing even cells plus tray.Discover where its mounting fasteners are placed thereby lift out its reservoir which also needs inspection for damage.Installation requires reversing removal steps by refilling it back till lower level line.
