The models of 1995.5 and 1996 have an option of Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags, which are courtesy names for additional mechanisms that protect the driver and the frontal passenger in head-on or frontal impacts. The airbag diagnostic unit incorporated in the car provides power to the airbag system and senses its performance every time the car is switched on and blinks the "SRS" light if in its normal state.
